Position: Technical Partnerships Manager

Close Date: 27 February 2026

Location: Darlington, NSW with flexible working conditions

Security requirements: Due to work with the Australian Defence Force, only Australian permanent residents and citizens can be considered for this role.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Technical Partnerships Manager to own our most important external relationships from first technical conversation through to successful field deployment and ongoing partnership growth.

This role sits at the intersection of partner, product, and engineering. You will lead technical scoping with prospective partners, convert qualified opportunities into active partnerships, and then ensure we deliver against agreed requirements on time and in the field.

You are accountable for partner outcomes. That includes scoping accuracy, deployment success, device performance in real-world conditions, and the overall health of the relationship.  You will also support fostering strategic relationships and converting new contacts into customers.

About Deteqt

Deteqt is a fast-growing, venture-backed startup developing next-generation sensing technology that will reshape how people, vehicles and industries understand the world around them. We’re building a platform based on diamond-on-chip technology, enabling magnetic-field measurement with extreme precision in a device small enough to scale.

Backed by Australia’s leading deep tech investors, we’re moving from prototype to product and expanding our team at a formative moment where your work will directly influence how the company grows and delivers.

Our early focus is on problems that matter: navigation in environments where GPS fails and discovering critical minerals with less environmental impact. As we grow, this technology will enable advances in medical imaging, smarter infrastructure and entirely new applications where magnetic awareness becomes part of everyday life.

We’re a small, driven team who move quickly, take ownership and value clear communication. If you’re ambitious, curious and want to build something genuinely uncommon, you’ll fit right in.

Your Key Responsibilities

Partner Scoping & Conversion

  • Maintain a clear view of target markets and customer segments, and actively prioritise partnership opportunities based on ROI, strategic relevance, and likelihood of conversion.

  • Lead technical and operational scoping meetings with prospective partners and customers.

  • Translate partner needs into clearly defined technical and delivery requirements.

  • Drive qualified opportunities through to signed partnerships, with clear success criteria and next steps.

  • Ensure expectations are realistic, aligned, and documented before commitments are made.

Partnership & Customer Ownership

  • Own partner and customer relationships post-signature, with accountability for delivery, outcomes, and relationship health.

  • Define partnership success upfront through clear success criteria, milestones, and communication cadence.

  • Build trusted relationships with technical and commercial stakeholders, keeping expectations aligned with delivery.

  • Maintain partner satisfaction through consistent delivery, clear communication, and proactive issue resolution.

Delivery & Deployment Execution

  • Own delivery against partner requirements, timelines, and agreed outcomes.

  • Coordinate internally with engineering, product, and operations to ensure commitments are met.

  • Lead deployment planning and execution, including field trials and early operational use.

  • Ensure deployments meet defined success criteria and performance expectations.

Field Performance & Issue Resolution

  • Coordinate field trials and early deployments in close collaboration with the Product and Engineering Leads.

  • Ensure deployments are well planned, run smoothly, and meet agreed objectives.

  • Work with Product and Engineering to surface performance issues, risks, or failure modes and ensure they are prioritised.

  • Drive timely issue escalation, resolution tracking, and clear communication with partners.

  • Capture lessons from field deployments and feed them back into product, engineering, and operational processes.

Communication & Process Building

  • Lead all external communication with partners, including updates, issue management, and progress reporting.

  • Build and document repeatable partner processes, including scoping frameworks, deployment playbooks, and communication cadences.

  • Reduce friction and rework by improving clarity, documentation, and handover between teams.

Skills and Experience

Required

  • Experience managing technical customer or partner relationships in hardware, deep tech, engineering, or science-led environments.

  • Strong technical literacy with the ability to understand complex devices and engage credibly with engineers.

  • Proven ability to own delivery across multiple stakeholder groups and moving parts.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Clear, direct, and structured.

  • Strong judgement around trade-offs, prioritisation, and expectation-setting

Desirable skills and experience

  • Background in systems engineering, field deployments, test and measurement, or product operations.

  • Experience working with external partners, customers, or government-adjacent organisations.

  • Exposure to hardware validation, field trials, or prototype-to-product transitions.

  • Experience creating processes or playbooks in growing teams.

What does success in this role look like?

A successful Technical Partnerships Manager within the first 6–12 months will:

  • Convert and grow partnerships: Consistently turn scoped opportunities into active partnerships, with partners choosing to continue or expand their engagement.

  • Deliver in the field: Ensure the quality and timely delivery of partner and customer projects, working with internal teams as required to make this happen.

  • Build a repeatable model: Establish clear, trusted processes for partner scoping, delivery, and communication that reduce rework and make partnerships easier to run as we scale.

Why Join Us?

  • Ground-floor impact: Be part of a well-funded, fast-growing startup at a pivotal stage, shaping a globally significant technology.

  • Values-led culture: We prioritise curiosity, diversity of thought, and building with integrity.

  • Mission with meaning: Help bring quantum sensing out of the lab and into real-world domains that matter — from secure navigation to sustainable resource discovery.

Join a supportive, collaborative team where curiosity and varied experiences are celebrated, and where your voice matters from day one.

Position: Photonics Engineer (Quantum Sensing)

Close Date: **Now Closed**

Location: Darlington, NSW with flexible working conditions

Security requirements: Due to work with the Australian Defence Force, only Australian permanent residents and citizens can be considered for this role.

Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on Photonics Engineer to define and own the optical excitation and fluorescence readout system for Deteqt’s diamond-on-chip quantum sensors.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end photonic architecture, from light-source selection and optical modelling through to prototyping, testing, and delivery of a manufacturable photonics package integrated with diamond and CMOS electronics. Your work will directly shape signal strength, stability, and repeatability in our first field-deployable devices.

This is a practical, device-focused role with accountability for real-world performance and manufacturability. You will work closely with quantum, electronics, mechanical, and test engineers to balance optical performance with alignment tolerance, thermal behaviour, robustness, and production constraints as we transition from lab-scale setups to compact, vendor-buildable modules.
