Mixed-Signal ASIC Lead
Position: Mixed-Signal ASIC Lead
Close date: 6 November 2026
Location: Darlington, NSW with flexible working conditions. We are open to remote candidates.
Reporting to: Product and Engineering Lead
Position Overview
Join a supportive, collaborative team where curiosity and proactivity are valued.
We are developing our next-generation ASIC, the custom chip at the heart of our quantum magnetic field sensor. As our Mixed-Signal ASIC Lead, you will own this chip from specification through to measured silicon. You will set tight requirements, manage our external CMOS design partners, and characterise real-world performance in the lab. Hands-on lab work is central to the role, from first-silicon bring-up to correlating results with simulation. You will work closely with our hardware and firmware engineers to integrate the ASIC into the product, and your decisions will directly shape the sensor we take to market.
About Deteqt
Deteqt is building a chip-scale quantum magnetic field sensor developed to power physical AI. Our devices enable magnetic-field measurement with extreme precision in compact, scalable systems designed for real-world deployment. We are a Sydney-based, Main Sequence-backed early-stage startup moving from prototype to product.
We’re a small but fast-growing, driven team who move quickly, take ownership and value clear communication. If you’re ambitious, curious and want to build something uncommon, you’ll fit right in.
Your Key Responsibilities
Core CMOS Design and Partner Management
Manage outsourced design and characterisation projects with CMOS design partners
Generate tight requirements and specs for CMOS
Verify designs against these specifications in simulations
Hands-on characterisation of the CMOS performance
Work with hardware and firmware engineers to verify and integrate custom ASICs
Contribute to migrating FPGA functions onto future CMOS/SoC designs
Hands-on Lab Work
Bring up and characterise first silicon at the bench, on both packaged parts and bare die
Measure noise, linearity, bandwidth, power and photosensor performance across temperature and supply
Correlate measurements with simulation and feed the findings into the next design spin
Automate measurements with scripts and lab instruments so results are repeatable
Additional Responsibilities
Design, build/purchase and operate interfaces to CMOS ASICs for testing: package/PCB layout, needle probing, probe card design
Contribute to FPGA controller programming of mixed-signal CMOS chips
Skills and Experience
Required
5–10 years of successful history in mixed-signal ASIC design
Photosensor design and/or validation
Why Join Us
Ground-floor impact: Be part of a well-funded, fast-growing startup at a pivotal stage, shaping a globally significant technology
Values-led culture: We prioritise curiosity, diversity of thought, and building with integrity
Mission with meaning: Help bring quantum sensing out of the lab and into real-world domains that matter, from secure navigation to sustainable resource discovery
We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences. Don’t fit every single requirement but think you can step up? We want to hear from you!
