Technical Partnerships Project Manager
Position: Technical Partnerships Project Manager
Close date: 10 July 2026
Location: Darlington, NSW with flexible working conditions
Salary range: $120,000-$135,000 + superannuation + ESOP
Position Overview
We are looking for a Technical Partnerships Project Manager to keep the engine running behind the Chief Executive Officer as he builds the commercial pipeline. This role exists to keep every commitment on track, every partner well-informed, and every contract or grant a success. This is primarily an internal role with scope to grow.
We are seeking a proactive, organised, technically literate person to fill this role. You will hold complex programmes together from an operational and relationship perspective, and build the repeatable processes that let Deteqt scale its partnerships function without dropping a commitment.
About Deteqt
Deteqt is a venture-backed startup building chip-scale quantum magnetic sensors, backed by Main Sequence Ventures and a cohort of US and Australian investors. Our technology integrates nitrogen-vacancy diamond with custom CMOS silicon to measure magnetic fields at a precision and size that hasn't been commercially available before.
We are building the technology to make a new data layer for the physical world readable and useful. The first applications we are building toward are navigation that works where GPS does not, and mineral exploration with a fraction of the time, cost, and impact.
We are a small, collaborative, and ambitious team. We work hard when we are here and value our people’s life outside of work. If you want to work at the point where deep technology becomes a commercial reality, this is that role.
Your Key Responsibilities
Partnership Process
Own the customer relationship management system. Every active opportunity, agreement, and partner engagement should reflect current status, next actions, and owner at all times
Ensure every partnership has a clear cadence: when we meet, what we report, and who is accountable
Coordinate and document partner meetings: pre-reads, agendas, notes, actions, and follow-up
Track the pipeline from scoped opportunity through to signed agreement; surface delays and blockers before they become problems
Maintain a clear view of all commitments under active agreements
Programs and field activity
Manage schedules, milestones, risks, and stakeholder updates across active field tests, device trials, and deployments
Coordinate with engineering and product so internal teams know what is coming and are resourced accordingly
Debrief every field activity and feed lessons into a living playbook
Grant Execution & Reporting
Maintain a live register of active grants: obligations, milestones, and reporting deadlines
Keep internal teams aligned so deliverables are on track against funding conditions
Prepare and submit progress reports, financial acquittals, and milestone evidence on time and to the standard each funding body requires
Be the primary contact with grant managers and funding bodies
Flag compliance risks early; escalate to the Chief Operating Officer where needed
Partner Communication
Day-to-day contact for active partners: responsive, clear, and ahead of what they need to know
Draft formal correspondence including progress reports, issue notices, and meeting summaries
Spot friction early and resolve or escalate before it compounds
Skills and Experience
Required
3+ years in a project management, partnerships operations, or technical account management role
Confident using AI tools in daily work, and curious about what else they can do
Able to understand device specs, trial protocols and engineering timelines
Clear, concise communication for reporting, partner correspondence, business development assets, and meeting notes
Experience managing grants and joint projects: tracking obligations, coordinating delivery, and preparing milestone and financial reports
Excellent organisational skills
Background in defence, aerospace, deep tech, or hardware product development
Work rights in Australia
What does early success in this role look like?
Within 90 days, the operational layer around partnerships is running. The CEO is briefed before every meeting and follow-ups happen without prompting. By six months, the CEO can focus on pipeline and proposals because delivery is fully covered. Partner communication runs on a clear cadence and grant obligations are visible.
